MT templates for full entry text in syndication feeds

Posted by bopuc at January 26, 2005 11:41 AM

I was gonna write it up but then remembered that 6A "did the right thing" and updated all their syndication feed templates to publish full entries.

The templates can be found here.

Note that only the Atom one includes Extended Entry text... to add it to the others, simply find the <$MTEntryBody encode_xml="1"$> and add <$MTEntryMore encode_xml="1"$> after it.

Cool.

Can you help me solve a little rss-related problem?

I see multiple methods on how to include a favicon with your RSS/Atom feed. (generated from MT 3.1x).

Most of them involve putting an [image] tag in the header, sometimes between the [channel] tags, other times not, depending on which flavour of feed you are using.

Odd thing is, I go to blogs that have favicons (at least, those that appear in NetNewsWire) and check out the xml source and there's no image tag to be found anywhere in the code - no link rel=, no "shortcut icon", nothing.

For example, Alex Lauzon, Martine, and Quan's blogs all have them; most others don't.

I know, dumb newbie question but...i gotta learn somehow. :)
