Yes, its true that it was quite unusual. I was living in that very area and remember both winters very vividly. This last year (2007/2008), Japan reported the least amount of snow they have received in about 150 years. The reason they say 150 years is because they don't have snow depth recordings that go past that. So the point is that this last year was HIGHLY unusual. It could be global warming, but considering we received more snow accumulation over the 2006/2007 winter than we have in the last 20 years, I think only time will tell. I hope Japan gets more snow this year because I'm looking forward to some good snowboarding in the Nagano area this year. ;-)
